The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) partnered with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to boost manpower that is skilled and credible in handling modern electoral technologies and processes for the 2025 National and Local Elections.

The partnership will facilitate the utilization of students and personnel from higher education institutions (HEIs) with Information Technology Education (ITE) programs as Manpower Technical Support Personnel and CCS Technicians throughout the electoral process.

CHED Secretary Popoy De Vera and COMELEC Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia signed today at the COMELEC central office the memorandum of agreement for the collaboration intended to support the 2025 National and Local Elections.

“I guarantee the skills and competence of the people from our HEIs across the country. We are continuously providing them with opportunities for upskilling and reskilling. Hence, I am confident that their skills and knowledge are up to date with new technologies and they will be able to adapt with the pressures in the election process,” De Vera said

“COMELEC has no better partner in this undertaking other than the academic institutions, especially students and faculty of Information Technology programs. By partnering with CHED and our higher education institutions we ensure the credibility and integrity of the electoral process,” Garcia said.

CHED shall mobilize its regional offices to determine HEIs with ITE Programs per municipality that are amenable and qualified to work during the 2025 National and Local Elections.

Identified personnel from the HEIs will be trained by COMELEC to develop the required qualifications and technical skills necessary during the electoral process and to adhere to the highest standards of political neutrality.

This partnership shall be effective until the completion of the 2025 National and Local Elections.
