The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) topped the latest OCTA 2nd Quarter performance and trust rating of government agencies showing its continued success in implementing programs in higher education that affect people’s lives.
The OCTA Research’s second-quarter Tugon Ng Masa (TNM) survey released on Monday showed that CHED garnered a rating of 80 percent.
“We in CHED are thankful for the trust and confidence of the Filipino people as we become the top-rated government agency as shown in the survey. This is good news after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recognized achievements in higher education his recent SONA such as the compliance of maritime education with EMSA after 17 years, addressing the shortage of nurses, increasing access to education through the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education, upskilling and reskilling the labor force, and assisting HEIs become internationally ranked universities,” said CHED Chairman Popoy De Vera.
CHED performed strongly in the Visayas, with 91 percent satisfied, zero dissatisfied and only 9 percent undecided. Eighty-six percent of respondents from Mindanao and the National Capital Region were also satisfied.
CHED also registered the lowest performance rating in Balance Luzon at 71 percent. Across socioeconomic classes, about eight in 10 Filipinos were satisfied with its performance.
In terms of socioeconomic classes, trust in the top five government agencies is highest in Class E, with CHED rating 78 percent in Class D, and 77 percent trust rating for Class E.
The #1 trust and performance rating of CHED comes at the heels of getting an unqualified opinion, the highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit, for the implementation of its programs in 2022.
“These achievements will spur us not only to continue but also improve the delivery of higher education programs in the country. This is a team effort. CHED succeeds only because its employees in the whole country work hard, and because our public and private HEIs efficiently implement Free Higher Education and other programs. So I thank the entire CHED workforce and the different HEIs for their good work,” De Vera said.
Following CHED is DepEd which garnered 79 percent performance ratings and Philippine National Police (PNP) with 76 percent, the Department of Health (DOH) with 75 percent, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) with 73 percent.
