More Filipino students can now get access to quality international education through the partnership between Miriam College and Camosun College in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
The international education partnership was launched by Miriam College Vice President for Academic Affairs Trixie Marie Sison and Camosun College Director Christiaan Bernard through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) held in Victoria, British Columbia in the presence of CHED Chairman Popoy De Vera.
Through the Camosun College-Miriam College partnership, students from both colleges can pursue undergraduate programs, internships, and cultural studies overseas in Early Childhood Education, Business, and Allied Health Service.
De Vera, who witnessed the signing ceremony, commended the two institutions for setting the pace for a deepened international academic collaboration through this institutional partnership that will improve their higher education systems.
He also stressed that this groundbreaking agreement would be a model for future partnerships between Canadian and Philippine HEIs.
“This signing ceremony represents only the beginning of a transformative partnership rooted in a common goal to enhance colleges in both the Philippines and Canada,” De Vera said.
Beginning SY 2024-2025, Camosun College is extending its presence in Miriam College Alviera campus in Porac, Pampanga.
Miriam College started its transnational education in 2016 when it partnered with Goldsmiths University of London through the Joint Development of Niche Programs project of the Commission on Higher Education.
Together, both institutions offer a dual awards program in Post Graduate Certificate and Master of Arts in Designing Education. Through the learnings and insights gained from partnering with a UK university, Miriam College is starting its new transnational education initiative, this time with Camosun College.
The Miriam-Camosum partnership covers student exchange, articulation, dual degree, validation, and the possibility of a joint degree program.
“When institutions like Miriam College and Camosun College collaborate, incredible possibilities emerge. Together, we will strive to provide our students with opportunities to transcend boundaries and merge diverse perspectives to empower them to become global citizens. It is our hope that through forging new educational pathways we will be able to help shape and enrich lives,” Sison said.
Miriam College is a premier women’s Catholic educational institution founded by the Maryknoll Sisters of New York in 1926. It offers academic programs at the basic and tertiary levels at its main Quezon City campus.
Camosun College is located in Victoria, British Columbia with campuses on the Traditional Territories of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
