This notice is issued to inform the public that the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has ordered the immediate/outright closure and revocation of government recognitions for the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science and BS in Information Technology programs offered by AMA Computer College – Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Campus, effective academic year (AY) 2025-2026.
On 27 January 2025, the Commission en banc (CEB) issued Resolution No. 067-2025, approving the immediate/outright closure of the BS in Computer Science and BS in Information Technology programs offered by AMA Computer College – CDO Campus, to take effect at the conclusion of the second semester of AY 2024-2025. The Resolution further prohibits the institution from enrolling students in these programs starting in the first term of AY 2025-2026. Moreover, the institution is directed to facilitate the transfer of all first, second, and third-year students to other institutions with CHED-recognized programs. As a result, no students shall be permitted to graduate from these programs, and no special orders shall be issued.
This decision follows a report from the CHED Regional Office X, which was validated by the CHED Central Office, indicating that the aforementioned programs at AMA Computer College – CDO Campus are non-compliant with the policies, standards, and guidelines (PSG) for Computer Science and Information Technology programs and that said programs are offered through distance education without authority. Consequently, CHED has deemed it necessary to impose sanctions.
Furthermore, the Commission has resolved to issue a Notice to the Public regarding the unauthorized offering of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at AMA Computer College – CDO Campus.
In 2024, concerns were raised regarding the offering of the BSN program at AMA CDO Campus. In response, the CHED Regional Office X officially confirmed on two separate occasions – May 28, 2024, and January 9, 2025 – that AMA CDO Campus has not been granted the required permit or recognition from CHED to offer the BSN program.
In light of these developments, the public is strongly advised to verify the recognition or accreditation status of any graduate or postgraduate programs before enrolling.
