Notice is hereby given to the public that, on 20 January 2025, CHED issued an Order directing the immediate closure of the following degree programs offered by AMА Computer College – Legazpi Campus and AMA Computer College – Naga Campus, effective the First Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026, and the revocation of the corresponding Government Recognition upon the transfer and/or graduation of the affected students, to wit:
AMA Computer College Legazpi Campus
- BS Electronics Engineering
- BS Computer Engineering
- BS Information Technology
- BS Computer Science
AMA Computer College Naga Campus
- BS Computer Engineering
- BS Computer Science
- BS Information Technology
- BS Business Administration
On 25 February 2025, AMA Computer College filed a Motion for Reconsideration assailing the closure order. Said Motion was denied by CHED in March 2025.
By virtue of said Orders, AMA Computer College – Legazpi and Naga Campuses were directed to:
- Stop accepting freshman students for enrollment in the abovementioned programs beginning 1st Semester AY 2025-2026;
- Transfer the second, third, and fourth year students to other CHED-recognized institutions, with the assistance of CHED Regional Office (CHEDRO) V, except for the one (1) fourth year BS Information Technology student of AMA Computer College – Naga Campus, which shall be allowed to complete her studies until graduation and shall be issued a special order subject to the evaluation CHEDRO V of the graduate’s competencies in accordance with the requirements outlined in the CHED Manual of Regulations for Private Higher Education; and,
- Furnish the necessary transfer credentials and records to students affected by the of closure and cause the preservation of all the students’ academic records by submitting the same to the CHEDRO concerned or to the National Archives Office.
Accordingly, the public is hereby advised and enjoined to exercise due diligence by verifying the recognition and/or accreditation status of any graduate or postgraduate program prior to enrollment in any higher education institution.
