In accordance with Section 24 of Republic Act No. 11904, which is also known as the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), the month of September has been declared as the Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM). The aim of this declaration is to raise awareness on the creative industries’ role in the country’s nation building and socioeconomic advancement. With the theme “Celebrating Creative Filipinos, Advancing Creative Philippines,” this year’s PCIM celebration places emphasis on both the creative talents that give pride to the country, as well as on the plans and policies that will further the development of the creative industries.

In view of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson’s designation as an ex-officio member of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council1 , as well as CHED’s additional mandate to “support and develop relevant programs related to creative industries2,” the CHED is in unity with the rest of the country in celebrating the PCIM.

Relatedly, the Department of Trade and Industry, as one of the lead agencies in the implementation of the PCIDA, has requested for the participation of all Higher Education Institutions in the celebration of the PCIM.

The execution of activities that promote the objectives of the PCIM are hereby encouraged. These activities include: (1) workshops that will help develop and upgrade the relevant knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values of budding creatives studying in HEls; (2) competitions that will feature the best creatives of the HE ls and foster greater engagement within the creative communities therein; and (3) exhibitions of the creative works and outputs by HEI learners to showcase their talents and to promote their portfolios for potential employment.

Materials, resources, and information related to the PCIM celebration can be found in Annex “A” and may be accessed through its official website at www.pcim2023.com.

Furthermore, the activities designed and executed in celebration of the PCIM are encouraged to be enrolled in the official website of the PCIM for promotional purposes. Enrollment of events can be done by completing the online form at https://bit.ly/PCIM2023EventsEnrollment.

At the PCIM’s Grand Closing Ceremony, a video compilation featuring all activities of the PCIM will be shown to and shared with the public, as a show of solidarity among those who participated in the PCIM. To be featured in the video compilation, photos and videos are to be uploaded at https://bit.ly/PCIM2023PhotosVideos.

Queries may be directed to the Interim Secretariat of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council through PCIDCSecretariat@dti.gov.ph
